Allen The NFL’s Worst September Coach

Allen’s biggest stumbling block in his four years of coaching in the NFL has been his slow starts with the Las Vegas Raiders and Saints. Between the two clubs, Allen’s posted a 3-12 mark in the first calendar month of the NFL regular season in four seasons as an NFL head coach, which isn’t far from his 53-game record with both teams (15-38, or .283).  This type of information can be helpful when deciding how you want to bet on the Saints at sportsbooks like bet365 Louisiana.

Leaguewide, Allen ranks behind Zac Taylor of the Cincinnati Bengals (5-9-1/36.67%), Frank Reich of the Carolina Panthers (6-10-1/38.24%), and Tampa Bay Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles (6-9/40%) when it comes to the worst September win percentages among NFL veteran head coaches. This year’s schedule should allow Allen and the Saints to right that record somewhat, with games against three straight teams with sub-.500 records a year ago. Between the Titans and Carolina Panthers (who went 7-10 apiece in 2022) and the Green Bay Packers (who went 8-9), the opening month of the 2023 season could be a blessing for Allen and the Saints.

That road to redemption begins on Sept. 10 in New Orleans, however, with the Saints needing to make an early statement when the Titans come to town in Week 1. It seems like oddsmakers at BetMGM Sportsbook Louisiana are confident in the Saints’ chances of doing just that, with the New York-based operator giving Allen and company +2500 of going 6-0 against NFC South opponents this season.
